I read somewhere that the npg uses a material that attracts dirt and splotches appear on the outside? Is this true? Can this be prevented? Or cleaned up or cleaned away? Thank you.

Actually most onaholes with TPE material tend to get a bit oily on the surface, making dust stick to it very easily. This can't be prevented 100% unless you live in an overpressurized test lab with special nano dust filter air renewal. Just clean it away with water and soap, it's really not bad issue
