Hello everyone, I was just checking en-nls for any new deals, but found the message on the homepage saying this. "Notification of our indefinite break from international shipping

We are very sorry for our customers to inform this, but NLS international website and all the related services
such as customer support and shipping service will be closed as of 12:00pm Japan time on December 15, 2017.
*Unfortunately, we have no clear idea when to reopen the service.

All the orders placed and paid until we shut down our website will ship properly.
Your customer account on NLS will be available until January 14, 2018.
Please note that you cannot access to your account after the date.

Again, we are terribly sorry for this painful result and all the inconvenience caused.
We hope to get you back to our shop again when we can reopen it.

May we wish you a fulfilling love life. " Sad news for everyone that liked using en-nls.

I hope it was just due to low sales and not shipping service shennanigans. If it's the latter, that would bode ill for other overseas based retailers as well.

It's not fully clear what caused the closure of international NLS, it was indeed abrupt and reminds me of Adult Toy Japan and Myonahole.
However NLS will likely reopen an international shop in the future, so I guess that's not because of low sales. If they needed to close the shop during a (deserved) website upgrade, they'd say so. The continuous business of the Japanese website rules out a bankruptcy.

The fact that it happened shortly before the very busy Christmas/new year period hints me that it was a very unexpected event they had no "plan B" ready for. My guess ? Paypal pulling the plug, like they did in the past for other shops. NLS used only Paypal to handle international orders (while on the Japanese website they accept Visa, MC and JCB). Knowing how little of a shit Paypal gives about merchants before closing accounts and their lengthy paperwork processing that would derail any online business even if everything checks out, that's the main cause I come up with.

Anyway... this event dealt an emotional blow to me since without NLS I pretty much wouldn't have started Onahole Review and everything surrounding it, my current life would have been drastically different (and certainly not for the better). Fundamentally there are still Japanese shops doing international business even with just a fraction of the amount of products NLS made available, but still: NLS will be missed in the months/years to come. *pays his respects*

Paypal has been weird. On one hand they pull the plug on tons of 18+ shops and services, on the other hand I see it actually being added to porn sites as payment option. Let's hope 2018 brings more clarity
